Spiritual successor to Chipís Challenge comes to PC & Mac

PC GamesAfter more than a 20-year absence, Chuck Sommerville Ė the game designer behind Chipís Challenge Ė has made a new PC & Mac puzzle game called Chuckís Challenge 3D.

Chuckís Challenge 3D is a puzzle game that walks the player through the evolution of gaming: move from A to B, collect items, the red key opens the red door, and much more. But, like Lego, knowing what each piece does is only the beginning of the fun, as players can also create and share their own levels using a simple paint-style interface and seamless cloud storage.

ďOver the last couple of years weíve been creating a 3D puzzle game based on my original design and over two decades of player feedback,Ē Chuck Sommerville said. ďChuckís Challenge 3D mixes the new with the old. Weíve the original Chipís Challenge team designing levels, along with cloud gaming improvements that let anyone create & share their own content.Ē

Initially Chuckís Challenge 3D seems to be about playing through the levels. But actually itís about learning the mechanics of gameplay. So slowly the player can become the creator.

At Niffler we think coding is important, but itís not necessary the best entry point for everyone who wants to learn how to make videogames. To often we hear people telling potential game designers or young kids to get into gaming they must learn how to code first.

Thatís why weíve created a paint style interface that allows anyone to make complex logic puzzle, skill dodging levels or just simple fun mazes. So that they can get a taste quickly of what itís like to be a game designer, by seeing their ideas coming to life. We hope our game is a stepping-stone that attracts new talent to the games industry. By giving people the tools to create games and then the thirst to expand on what they have learnt.
