A work of digital fiction with an immersive gameworld at its core

A work of digital fiction with an immersive gameworld at its coreToday, developers Andy Campbell and Mez Breeze are happy to announce that Pluto will be launching on PC / Mac later this year.

Key Features:

A compelling narrative, beautiful visuals and soundtrack.
An immersive gameworld that reflects a multi-layered backstory.
Is the Winner of Tumblr international Prize in Digital Art and Media.
Will be available on PC / Mac Q3 2016, followed by launch on VR Q1 2017.

In Pluto, John, a computer engineer, inherits a collection of arcane objects from his Aunt Mo. Over time, the engineer and his daughter begin to realise that the objects have unusual physical properties – and that the more they are exposed to them, the more their realities and memories seem to change.

Pluto is an ambitious and experimental work of fiction told partly through an immersive 3D gameworld. In this world created by Andy Campbell and Mez Breeze, you – the player / reader – will find yourself frequently fluctuating between several time zones, during which the protagonist’s house varies in terms of narrative clues, content, clutter, mood, and appearance.

"Pluto narratively toys with the concept of time, offering a series of windows into characters’ lives at different points in their personal histories" explains Andy Campbell, one half of Pluto's development team. "Pluto also explores – through the central gameworld – that concept of other places existing where time no longer feels stable or linear. Through the game and browser-based story, we’re constructing a storyworld where perceptions are stretched beyond the 'real' as you think you know it."

Fellow Pluto collaborator Mez Breeze continues "Pluto evolved out of previous collaborations with Andy such as The Dead Tower, #PRISOM and #CARNIVAST, in conjunction with raw experimentation, short fiction, Mezangelle, and even artwork produced in the mid-1990s on the Commodore Amiga! Writing prose and developing the gameworld simultaneously has allowed one to affect the other, and snippets from each to interweave in fascinating ways. With Chris Joseph tinker-hammering-out the audio, and with the two year foundation laid for this to become a VR experience, we believe Pluto is a digitally born story that's ready to be exposed."
